Wow, a great venue and a great triathlon.
We spent the weekend at Slanghoek (near Rawsonville) and enjoyed being spectators for the off-road triathlon on Saturday and then I participated in the road triathlon on Sunday (26/10/14).
The venue was fantastic, the views amazing and luckily the wind had died down on Sunday making for near perfect conditions for the triathlon.
I forgot my watch at home and messed up my bike speedometer so this was a new experience – using my gut, and tired muscles to gauge my progress. I just missed the 3 hour mark but was really chuffed with my performance.
I finished the 1.3km swim : 43km cycle : 10km trail run in 3h07 (29min swim : 1h34 cycle : 1h04 run).
I hope to be back next year and aim for a sub 3 hour.
