Cape Town marathon

CT_marathon_20140921Wow, my first marathon, and I did it….

I must admit I am so lucky to have a great supportive family and also the privilege of belonging to a great running (multisport) club. I have had so such encouragement, support and have been given so many fantastic tips on running this marathon – I am so grateful for all the help I got, and the patience received as ‘this newbie’ asked lots of nervous questions. The help all resulted in running a great race and getting my goal time (4:30) ~ a PB that will last a long time?

Back to the run….

What a wonderful experience running through Cape Town, truly a beautiful City full of interesting nooks and crannies. The race started at 07:30 on a beautiful spring day in Cape Town, we ran down Somerset road into Cape Town and then through Woodstock into Rosebank, then Rondebosch, past Newlands cricket and Rugby stadiums, then back into Cape Town past Parliament, down the Company Gardens and then along Sea Point and Green Point to the finish.

Club mate Zintle Xiniwe Nontle was the 7th lady, the first South African and hence the new South African Senior Women’s Marathon Champion (2:41:52), Awesome!
