Cape Town Bay to Bay 30km run

The first road race of the year in Cape Town is the ‘Ocean Basket Cape Town Bay to Bay’ from Camps Bay to Hout Bay and back. It is a tough run with an ascent of 385m over the 30km route (or 2 x 15km out and back).

Last year I did the event in 3h10 and was hoping for an improvement but given my lack of structured training since the Cape Town marathon I was not sure.

The weather on the day averaged 23C, well that’s according to my awesome new Suunto Ambit 2 I got for my birthday! The race route is spectacular and I was pleasantly surprised with my time of 2h55 (yippee) especially as my split was 1h28 out and 1h27 back!
